We are very pleased to have received planning approval for a rear and side extension in Odd Down, Bath.
Our clients purchased their property with the vision of making it their permanent home to suit their needs as a growing family. Whilst the current layout of their property provided them with enough room, it felt restricted and insufficient at times.
The existing house has 3 bedrooms, one of them being a very small one. Both of our clients need room to separately work from home, which at the moment they have been doing from the dining table and the bedroom.
The existing conservatory is of very poor quality and completely blocks the views from the house into the garden, and prevents any light getting in. The living and dining feel locked in and dark.
The proposal maximises the amount of available space. On the ground floor, the proposed two-storey side extension allows a new generous utility and cloakroom, as well as a snug/playroom and office. On the first floor, it accommodates new bedroom with an ensuite.
A single storey rear extension allows for a new kitchen/ dining with direct views and access to the garden.
A small garden office at the west of the side was also part of the proposal.
During the design process, a mezzanine that could potentially connect both kids' bedrooms was considered. Although this would have added a unique element to the design, the final scheme maximises the amounts of bedrooms possible by opting for a loft conversion.
The additional space will completely transform this house, we look forward to progress with the technical design and building control submission. Stay tuned for more updates!
